You are all winners for joining the important,
entertaining conversation evolving on this site
IT IS WITH great pleasure that we can announce the winners of the Grand Opening competition that began Friday, May 3 – the fifth day of this blog’s existence.
Today is our fourteenth day – and the response has been overwhelming!
The $10 Starbucks gift card was delivered at 9:40 this morning to Bjorn Palenius in San Diego for being the 20 th person to register for an account with “In the (K)now.”
Admittedly, at this time it is just as good to subscribe to the RSS feed by hitting the blue “site” button at the top right of the screen. This way you will get a notification whenever a new post is published.
The benefits of subscribing are on the way.
WEB DEVELOPER extraordinaire Martin Black, who lives in Cambridge, England, is on assignment in Calgary this week. As soon as he gets back home he begins on Phase Two of this site.
We’ve come a huge distance in an incredibly short time. Martin constructed most of CSS code virtually overnight. We signed the contract on May 1, and it was all ready for the Grand Opening on May 3.
Thank you Martin Black (check out his site some time)
Among the additional features coming for subscribers will be a weekly newsletter, breaking news alerts … and much more. Stay tuned.
The GRAND PRIZE of an iPod Nano for the most prolific and insightful commenter goes to “One who knows,” who has already received his prize.
Congratulations for pithy, succinct and to-the-point commentary.
This is what “In the (K)now” is all about. It is a conversation – between you and me, and all of us. Unlike the one-directional communication of print media – on which I have based a 40-year career as a journalist and academic – this medium allows us to converse in multiple directions simultaneously.
It is our goal here to have a vigorous debate about the important issues of the day – whether they be politics, economics, media, art or travel.
News is a top priority, but features are fun, for you and me. Journalism and academia are major topics we will revisit – there are new developments daily – but we will also take excursions to exotic locales like the British Virgin Islands and Guadalajara.
Stay tuned for more of these – google “Falun” in Sweden for a clue to what’s upcoming – and watch my Facebook posts for additional hints.
Thank you all for a wonderful kick-off to this exciting adventure in cyberspace. I am so new to this I feel like, most of the time, I’m making it up as I go along.
Let’s enjoy the ride together.
