‘Satellite’ report exposed as split-screen hoax
The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart grins sheepishly at his own jokes.
IN HIS IMICABLE way, Jon Stewart of The Daily Show on Wednesday night trashed CNN in the segment “Standlot.”
It was hilarious. MUST SEE TV.

The video caption is not a spoiler: “Using newsroom magic, CNN covers unfolding crime stories happening in two different cities from the same parking lot.”
THE VERDICT comes just 27 seconds into the 4:56 segment: “CNN was found guilty of ‘news-slaughter,’ ” Stewart grins. Don’t you love the way he sheepishly laughs at his own jokes? Just in case the audience doesn’t get it?
This, however, was no laughing matter.

Split screen hoax? Exposed!
per semester that if they get their news from only one source, the single best source is The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
HERE’S WHY: TDS producers, writers and on-air talent seem like they must all be former newsmen and women. They are consistently correct in selecting the day’s top two or three stories – whether it be from print or electronic media – and pillorying those who screw up.
They obviously read The New York Times, like I do. And, probably, lots, lots more.
From the West Coast, I can see past that beautiful blue set, with the eyes of a journalist and teacher of journalism, to know that, behind it, are some very savvy people with a keen sense of what is news – and what is ridiculous.
Their parodies are simply delicious.
