Health insurers should end
coverage for Covid patients
who don’t have a shot
With millions of Americans too lazy, stupid or ignorant to get a Covid shot, there is one sure way to make these #COVIDIOTS do it.

President Biden can solve the problem with the stroke of his pen.
Public and private health insurance providers should immediately announce that as of Sept. 30 they will no longer cover any treatment for Covid illnesses amongst those who are not vaccinated. Testing and vaccinations should remain free.
Any possible legal impediments imposed by the CARES act should immediately be waived either by the Biden Administration or Congress.
The possibility of facing potentially bankrupting medical bills will surely motivate many of the naysayers to go and get the shot.
According to the Covid vaccine monitor at the Kaiser Family Foundation as of August 4 about one-third of American adults were still unvaccinated, including one percent who say they want to “wait and see” how the vaccine works for other people before getting vaccinated.
Three percent say they will do so “only if required” and an additional 14% say they will “definitely not” get a vaccine, a share that has held steady since December.
This is simply incomprehensible.
What more evidence do these idiots need?
After many months of detailed research, on Aug. 23 the Food and Drug Administration gave final approval to the miraculous Pfizer vaccine.

The FDA announcement of final approval of the Pfizer vaccine.
This is the ultimate good-housekeeping seal of approval. Despite its many flaws, the FDA has been the last word in drug approvals for more than half a century. There is no better adjudicator in the world.
“… the public can be very confident that this vaccine meets the high standards for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality the FDA requires of an approved product,” said Acting FDA Commissioner Janet Woodcock in a statement announcing the approval.
Even after the FDA announcement, according to the Washington Post on Aug. 25 many are still holding out.
According to the article “FDA approval not swaying some vaccine holdouts,” “… hopes that many … skeptics would be swayed by (the FDA’s) vaccine approval appear to have been unrealistic, according to interviews with 16 unvaccinated Americans — including six who said earlier this year that they would be more likely to get vaccinated if the FDA approved the shots.”

The Washington Post article on those who remain unconvinced.
There are about 85 million unvaccinated Americans, the article says, and many remain unconvinced.
There is, however, one potentially significant legal obstacle that may get in the way of denying coverage.
According to the Congressional Research Service there are no federal laws that specifically require coverage of Covid-19 treatment. “However the existing federal requirement that certain plans cover a set of 10 categories of essential health benefits is potentially relevant to the coverage of COVID-19 treatment items and services.”
If you can cut through the bureaucratic gobbledygook you may see the wrinkle here. Some insurance companies may claim they are legally required to cover COVID-19 treatment, but that is highly debatable and certainly not in their economic interests.
It is surely a topic that can be solved with an Executive Order from the President. At the very least, he could immediately order an end to coverage for the unvaccinated by Medicare and Medicaid, with private insurers being allowed to make their own decision.
And it should be done without delay.
The longer foolish Americans refuse to do the socially responsible thing and get a shot, the more we who have conscientiously taken care of ourselves and our neighbors will suffer. Denying insurance coverage to the unvaccinated is the best and quickest way to solve this problem.
