GIGANTIC MISCALCULATION: As rats flee sinking ship, GOP will cave on impasse
Oct 11th, 2013 by Warren Swil

Unnecessary extended

national nightmare

nears end game

IT HAS BECOME INCREASINGLY apparent  that the long national nightmare over the government shutdown is nearing an end.
With the Republican Party in disarray and its Tea Party wing increasingly isolated, the question has become not “if” but “when” it would cave on its outrageous demands.
The answer: sooner that most of them thought.
The steadfastness of the president and his refusal to negotiate with a gun pointed at his head seems to be paying off.
The last time the GOP sank this low in the polls was during the Clinton impeachment in 1998.
It’s time to reopen the government and move forward.

As debt ceiling cliff nears, global fallout under way

CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS LIKELY TO FOLLOW DEFAULT
As the United States stumbles through the government shutdown towards the debt-ceiling crisis, the potential catastrophic effects are already causing ripples – political and economic – around the globe.
But House Republicans are not watching the oncoming light of the speeding train heading down the tracks towards all of us.
If they don’t pay attention to reopening the government so they can move past it to derail the debt ceiling crisis, all bets are off. The consequences are almost too terrible to contemplate.

GOP’s worst nightmares turning into harsh reality

OBAMACARE SUCCESS MAY YET SPLIT REPUBLICAN PARTY
President Obama’s signature accomplishment in office – what Republicans disparagingly call “Obamacare” – is off to a rousing start and this is the Republican Party’s worst nightmare.
A second unexpected one, however, is that the continuing shutdown of the federal government – and the looming debt ceiling crisis – threaten to split their party into two warring factions.
It’s tempting to gloat – and I would forgive anyone who does – that the nightmare scenarios for the Republican Party are unfolding before their eyes, and they seem powerless to stop them.

Debt ceiling disaster already unfolding as shutdown continues

US TREASURY SAYS IT STARTS LONG BEFORE DOOMSDAY DEADLINE
The U.S. Treasury issued an alarming report that fallout from the next crisis would not wait until Doomsday on Oct. 17.
It is already starting, and will grow worse as the deadline approaches, the Treasury warned.
The economic damage the GOP is causing already has started already. It will only get worse over the coming weeks. And it will take years to fix, if it ever can be.
It is time for the crazy politicians to come to their senses.

Showdown over shutdown could split Republican Party

DISSENT GROWS WITHIN GOP AS PUBLIC ANGER MOUNTS
Signs are emerging in a number of quarters that the radial fringe group of Republicans in the House of Representatives that deliberately caused all the unnecessary suffering is itself beginning to feel the heat.
With each passing day that the U.S. government remains shuttered, the internal pressures straining the Republican Party will mount as the American public grows increasingly disenchanted with its performance.
As long as the president and his party stay firm and refuse to negotiate such a fundamental issue as running the country properly, the chances of a split in the GOP will rise.
And that is good news for everyone.

GROSS MISMANAGEMENT: World’s only superpower lurches from crisis to crisis

US GOVERNMENT – AND PEOPLE – HELD HOSTAGE BY LUNATIC FRINGE
Few people on the planet can be unaware that the American federal government is on track to shut down in a few hours.
It’s all the fault of a crazy radical fringe group that has seized control of Congress.
What an embarrassment. Even worse, what an unnecessary calamity for the entire country, all its 330 million people, and the global community.
It is beyond pathetic. It is gross mismanagement on a massive scale.

Health care reform debate to reach fever pitch

PUBLIC OPINION WAVERS AS GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN LOOMS
The battle over health care reform will reach fever pitch this week as Republicans in Congress tie repeal of it to a possible shutdown of the federal government.
President Obama’s signature accomplishment in office is not enormously popular with the American public.
As the debate deepens and the shutdown deadline looms, we can expect more heat than light.
It can only be hoped that the sane members of Congress prevail and keep funding the federal government as reform is rolled out fully over the next six months.

President fights back as Obamacare battle intensifies (with video)

HHS SECRETARY SIBELIUS TOUTS BENEFITS BEING IMPLEMENTED
The battle over the Affordable Care Act – aka Obamcare ¬– threatens to intensify just after Labor Day when Tea Party radicals plan a rally at the House Speaker’s office.
Meanwhile, the Obama Administration is fighting back with a public relations blitz.
And a poll released Wednesday found a huge majority of Americans oppose defunding the program.
This is the GOP’s worst nightmare come true, as we reported here Aug. 20.

Due to the Labor Day weekend in the U.S. posting will be light over the next few days. We deserve a break from our labors! Don’t you?
